Summary

The IT company Andersen, invites a Database Administrator in India to work on a large scale project.

The customer is a global company, providing SMS & Voice Connectivity, SMS Monetization, Messaging Services, Verification Services, Voice Services, Phone Numbers, Clearance & Settlement, and Roaming services, to a large spectrum of companies, such as Mobile Network Operators, Telecom Vendors, Social Networking Platforms, Global Email Providers. It has 1,200 active customers including Google, Microsoft, UBER, WeChat, FoodPanda, AXA Insurance, National Bank of Greece, Aegean Airlines, and etc.

The project is the development of a multi-messaging platform, offering digital communication services to Marketing-Sales managers over a Web platform.

Responsibilities

  • Designing the database schema, tables, relationships, and other structural components of the database.
  • Ensuring that the database is secure from unauthorized access, and that sensitive data is protected from theft, hacking, or other security breaches.
  • Monitoring database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or other issues that may impact performance.
  • Ensuring that the database is regularly backed up and that recovery procedures are in place in the event of a disaster or system failure.
  • Ensuring that the data stored in the database is accurate and consistent, and that any errors or inconsistencies are identified and corrected.
  • Providing data exports, reports for customer/operational support
  • Anticipating future growth of the database system and plan for increased storage capacity, processing power, and other resources as needed.
  • Performing regular maintenance tasks, such as database optimization, indexing, and archiving.
  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights to the database.
  • Identifying and resolving any issues that arise with the database system, including system crashes, data corruption, and other problems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience in Database Administration;
  • Strong experience and knowledge of database administration and management for MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL. This includes understanding of database architecture, schema design, and query optimization, as well as proficiency in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining databases;
  • Strong knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, and SQL, as well as experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Experience with setting up and managing replication and high availability solutions for MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases, including configuring and managing backup and recovery strategies;
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot instance-level performance issues, slow queries, and replication lag, and optimize databases for maximum performance and scalability;
  • Experience with automating database deployments, managing database versions, and deploying database changes in a scalable and consistent manner;
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus, and setting up alerting mechanisms for database performance, replication, and other critical metrics;
  • Understanding of database security best practices, including user access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements such as GDPR;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Level of English – from Intermediate.
