Andersen is hiring a WordPress Developer for a media company. The role focuses on developing and maintaining a news-focused website.

The customer is a fast-growing media and performance-marketing ecosystem specializing in the crypto, finance, technology, and business sectors. Founded in 2021, it operates a diverse portfolio of well-known digital platforms that reach global audiences, foster trust, and drive engagement beyond traditional search rankings. Leveraging data-driven strategies, creative storytelling, affiliate partnerships, and creator marketplaces, the company delivers measurable, impactful marketing results.

The project is essentially a news-focused website designed to deliver timely, relevant, and engaging content to a broad audience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and continuously improving the company's WordPress website, ensuring security, compliance, and high availability.
  • Managing both back-end and front-end development autonomously, delivering solutions that align with business goals and user expectations.
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting custom WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, product managers, and designers to maintain and evolve website layout, content structure, performance, and appearance.
  • Proactively monitoring website health, performance, and uptime, swiftly diagnosing and resolving issues.
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation of technical processes, architecture decisions, and operational procedures.
  • Conducting regular website performance audits and optimizations to ensure a high SEO benchmark score.
  • Refactoring legacy code to improve maintainability, performance, and security as required.
  • Providing advanced troubleshooting and support in high-pressure scenarios, minimizing downtime and user impact.

Requirements

  • Professional WordPress development experience in large-scale or enterprise-level websites for 4+ years.
  • Proven ability to manage deeply customized WordPress setups, including non-standard implementations and legacy codebases.
  • Strong proficiency in custom plugin and theme development.
  • Expert knowledge of Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for managing complex content structures.
  • Deep understanding of PHP development adhering to PHP Standards Recommendations (PSRs) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
  • Strong SQL/MySQL skills, including database performance tuning and complex queries.
  • Thorough understanding of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, responsive design principles).
  • Solid understanding of website performance optimization and implications on SEO.
  • In-depth knowledge of HTTP protocols, browser caching, and CDN / Cloutfront integration.
  • Experience working with Git version control, pull requests, and rigorous code review processes.
  • Familiarity with Docker, AWS, command line operations, and Bash scripting.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, handle complexity, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive and performance-driven approach.
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication skills, and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Level of English – from Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

  • Experience with continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience with infrastructure optimization for WordPress (caching, CDN, load balancing).
  • Familiarity with WordPress VIP hosting or other enterprise-level hosting providers.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or related fields.
