Andersen is looking for a Data Architect for one of our Austrian customers. The role focuses on modernizing the data platform to improve scalability, efficiency, and support business growth.
The customer is a global B2B2C insurance and assistance leader offering global solutions that span international health and life insurance, travel insurance, automotive and maintenance. The company offers high-tech products and solutions that go beyond traditional insurance and are easily integrated into partners' businesses or sold directly to clients through the company's brands.
The project is focused on migrating the data platform from Oracle Exadata to Azure Databricks and from MicroStrategy to Power BI. It covers end-to-end solution design, development, and operation to ensure a scalable and efficient platform.
Responsibilities
- Managing the entire data team's Azure infrastructure.
- Continuously improving the cloud-native data platform based on Databricks.
- Implementing and maintaining the DataOps model of work.
- Conducting operational activities on top of the platform.
- Communicating with the customer to steer their services in the customer-required direction.
- Collaborating with the Databricks team to steer their services in the customer-required direction
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role for 4+ years.
- Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Governance (policies, budgets, monitoring), Data stack (storage accounts, event hubs, Data Factory), Security (Microsoft Defender, KeyVault), and Networking (DNS, VNet, private endpoints).
- Strong expertise with Databricks infrastructure/platform layer and good understanding of the data layer.
- Practical experience with Kafka.
- Proficiency in working with both Linux and Windows OS environments.
- Experience with GitHub and Azure DevOps.
- Proficiency in Automation/IaC tools such as Terraform and PowerShell/bash scripting.
- Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.
Desired skills
- Experience with Python.
- Knowledge of data transformation frameworks (e.g., dbt).
- Knowledge of data ingestion frameworks (e.g., dlthub).
- Familiarity with Dynatrace, Grafana, Azure Functions, zScaler, VSCode, and working with end users.
