Data Architect (EU)

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Data Architect in the EU for a project designing a scalable cloud-based data platform on Azure and Databricks, enabling real-time data processing and strong data governance.

The customer is a financial services organization providing banking products and digital solutions for individual and business clients. The company operates through an established service network and online platforms and is part of a larger international financial group, supporting ongoing development of its services for a broad client base.

The project is focused on designing the target data architecture for a cloud-based data platform built on Azure and Databricks. The initiative aims to establish a scalable, governed data environment that supports real-time data ingestion while ensuring compliance with regulatory and data governance standards.

Responsibilities

• Designing the target data platform architecture on Azure Databricks including ingestion, transformation and serving layers.
• Defining data modelling standards, domain data models and medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold layers).
• Architecting real-time and near-real-time data ingestion patterns using Kafka / Azure Event Hub / CDC.
• Defining Unity Catalog structure: schema design, access control taxonomy, metadata standards.
• Collaborating with Data Governance.
• Leading to embed lineage, data quality and ownership into platform architecture.
• Producing a high-level architectural blueprint (HLA) for the new data platform aligned with OTP group data strategy.
• Ensuring architecture supports compliance with BCBS239, RDARR, GDPR and EBA data governance requirements.
• Assessing current data landscape (MS SQL DWH, Collibra, Ataccama) and defining migration / coexistence approach.

Requirements

• Experience in data architecture in banking or financial services for 6+ years.
• Strong proficiency with cloud data platforms — Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog.
• Experience designing event-driven data ingestion pipelines (Kafka, Azure Event Hub, CDC patterns).
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and tooling: Collibra, Ataccama Familiarity with BCBS239 / RDARR data lineage and data quality requirements.
• Proficiency with data modelling standards and enterprise data management best practices.
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

• Experience with Databricks MLflow and ML feature stores.
• Knowledge of Data Mesh architecture principles.
• Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) certification.
