Data Engineer

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Data Engineer for a project building a scalable data platform with near real-time capabilities to improve data governance, transparency, and analytics across banking systems.

The customer is a financial services organization providing banking products and digital solutions for individual and business clients. The company operates through an established service network and online platforms and is part of a larger international financial group, supporting ongoing development of its services for a broad client base.

The project is focused on transforming the bank’s fragmented data landscape into a governed, scalable data platform with near real-time capabilities. It introduces a data product–driven approach and strong governance practices to improve customer insights, operational efficiency, and data transparency across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing Kafka-based event streaming pipelines for real-time data ingestion from transaction systems, payment gateways and customer event sources.
• Building CDC pipelines from core banking systems and other operational databases using Debezium or Azure Database CDC.
• Developing Databricks Structured Streaming jobs for real-time feature computation and Customer Insights enrichment.
• Implementing exactly-once semantics, dead-letter queue handling and schema evolution management.
• Optimizing streaming pipeline performance: throughput, latency and resource utilization on AKS / Databricks.
• Integrating streaming outputs with the Gold layer serving datasets and downstream ML feature stores.
• Ensuring real-time pipelines meet sub-second to low-second latency SLAs defined in the RFP.
• Embedding data quality checks and lineage metadata capture into streaming pipeline artefacts.

Requirements

• Data engineering experience for 5+ years with at least 3 years specialized in streaming data systems.
• Expert proficiency with Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform or Azure Event Hubs.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks Structured Streaming and Delta Live Tables.
• Strong knowledge of CDC patterns: Debezium, Azure SQL CDC, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with PySpark, Python and Scala for streaming workloads.
• Experience with stream processing optimization and exactly-once delivery guarantees.
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

• Confluent Certified Developer certification.
• Experience with Apache Flink or Apache Spark on Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of banking transaction data models.
