Summary

Andersen is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in the EU for a project developing healthcare technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, collaboration, and clinical workflows.

The customer is a technology company that develops digital solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency, workforce readiness, and knowledge sharing within organizations. Its products combine learning, process support, and workflow optimization capabilities, helping teams access critical information, follow standardized procedures, and perform their daily tasks more effectively.

The project is focused on enhancing a healthcare workflow platform by integrating operating room scheduling data from hospital systems and delivering real-time information to clinical teams. It aims to improve operational efficiency, clinical preparedness, and collaboration through seamless integration with healthcare and medical device ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and maintaining backend services and APIs within a distributed cloud architecture.
  • Owning the technical vision and direction of backend services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Leading architecture and design decisions, aligning with platform goals and clinical constraints.
  • Integrating HL7-based hospital schedule feeds into the Incision platform.
  • Ensuring high availability, performance, and data consistency in real-time clinical environments.
  • Taking full end-to-end ownership of services in production (monitoring, alerting, incident response, RCA, improvements).
  • Driving engineering excellence by establishing best practices, coding standards, and review processes.
  • Leading code reviews and technical discussions, setting quality benchmarks across the team.
  • Mentoring and supporting engineers, providing technical guidance and feedback.
  • Acting as a primary technical interface with Incision stakeholders.
  • Translating business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions and execution plans.
  • Proactively identifying risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies, and driving mitigation strategies.
  • Balancing hands-on contribution with leadership responsibilities in an embedded team setup.
  • Contributing to long-term platform evolution and architectural roadmap.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Node.js / TypeScript for 7+ years.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Engineer or owning complex backend domains.
  • Strong expertise in system design, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Practical knowledge of NestJS framework.
  • Solid experience with AWS Serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, etc.).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (DocumentDB, DynamoDB, or similar).
  • Experience delivering and scaling production-critical systems.
  • Strong ownership mentality with accountability for reliability and performance.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical alignment.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environments and lead initiatives independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact directly with stakeholders.
  • Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

  • Experience with DynamoDB.
  • Exposure to HL7 or healthcare data standards.
  • Background in healthcare / medtech domain.
