Data/BI Engineer

Summary

Andersen is looking for a Data/BI Engineer for a UK digital bank. The role includes building cloud infrastructure, improving data governance, and creating reporting tools to support savings and mortgage products.

The customer is a UK-based digital bank. This innovative financial institution specializes in delivering straightforward savings and lending products through a modular, tech-driven approach. With operations rooted in Wales and London, it focuses on underserved customer segments by offering tailored solutions such as dynamic-rate personal loans and simplified mortgage services. It continues to grow rapidly, combining fintech agility with the stability of a fully licensed bank.

The project is focused on building cloud-native infrastructure, data governance, and reporting tools that accelerate the development of savings and mortgage products. A key priority is delivering Data Build Tool and Power BI integration to improve data management and business insights.

Technology stack: Terraform, Power BI, AWS Athena, Lake Formation, Active Directory, DBT Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the setup and implementation of data workflows in the cloud environment.
• Ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of transformed data for business intelligence and analytics.
• Managing infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
• Supporting Power BI Gateway integration between AWS Athena and Microsoft Power BI Server.
• Assisting with Active Directory integration for Lake Formation accounts.
• Configuring and maintaining DBT Cloud.

Requirements

• Experience as a Data/BI Engineer or in a similar position for 3+ years.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining Power BI Gateway to link AWS Athena to MS Power BI Server (ideally in redundant setup and via Terraform).
• Experience setting up and maintaining DBT Cloud (ideally via Terraform).
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

• Experience linking Lake Formation accounts to Active Directory (preferably via Terraform).
• Some experience with Python.
• Experience working in regulated environments.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
