Backend Developer (PHP)

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Backend Developer (PHP) for a German manufacturer. The role includes redesigning a corporate website and B2B portal to boost performance and usability.

The customer is a German manufacturer of bike racks, shelters, and urban furniture. Serving cities, municipalities, businesses, and architects, the company delivers durable, eco-friendly products and offers full-cycle services from design to installation to support sustainable urban mobility and public spaces.

The project is focused on redesigning the corporate website and B2B portal, integrating them with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to improve performance and usability.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintain features and modules for eCommerce projects using PHP and Shopware 6.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Performing unit testing to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Debuging and fixing issues to maintain system stability and performance.
• Collaborating with the team to design and implement scalable solutions.
• Participating in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

Requirements

• Commercial experience as a Backend Developer (PHP) for 3+ years.
• Experience with eCommerce platforms (mandatory – Shopware).
• Strong knowledge of PHP 7.4+ and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL 5.7/8.0 or MariaDB), including query optimization.
• Proficiency with web servers (Apache or Nginx).
• Knowledge of PHP extensions such as GD, cURL, OpenSSL, mbstring, XML, ZIP, PDO/MySQL.
• Experience with caching mechanisms (Redis or Memcached) for performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and integrations.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Level of English – from Intermediate plus and above.
