Andersen is seeking a BI Engineer for a global airline-owned payment platform. The role focuses on data models, ETL/ELT processes, and BI dashboards to enhance reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
The customer is a global corporate travel payment solution owned and operated by the world’s leading airlines. Its network includes major carriers that issue charge cards accepted by thousands of travel-related merchants worldwide, covering air, rail, cruise, and agency payments. The platform also enables airlines to accept multiple payment methods, including alternatives, via integrated processing partners within the customer’s network.
The project is a critical payment platform for airlines, integrating multiple providers, risk tools, and analytics, with a focus on building robust BI and reporting capabilities through data models, ETL/ELT processes, and interactive dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and reliable data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL/ELT) data from the transactional database (OLTP) and other sources into a data warehouse or data lake (OLAP).
- Working with Data Architects and DevOps to implement data ingestion processes for both real-time and batch data.
- Ensuring data pipelines are efficient, resilient, and maintainable.
- Collaborating with the Data Architect to design and implement dimensional data models (e.g., star schemas, snowflake schemas) optimized for analytical queries and reporting.
- Developing and managing the data warehouse/data lake, ensuring data integrity, quality, and performance.
- Working with Business Analysts and the Product Owner to gather requirements for reports and dashboards.
- Developing, deploying, and maintaining interactive and insightful dashboards and reports using a BI tool (AWS QuickSight).
- Creating canned reports and providing capabilities for self-service analytics for the customer and its merchant customers.
- Implementing data quality checks and validation rules within data pipelines to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
- Collaborating with the Data Architect on data governance practices, including data cataloging and metadata management.
- Optimizing SQL queries and data models for performance to ensure fast and responsive dashboards and reports.
- Monitoring the performance of data pipelines and BI systems, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Experience as a BI Engineer or in a similar role for 3+ years.
- Hands-on experience with the relevant tech stack: OpenSearch, Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, Amazon S3 (buckets, permissions, lifecycle policies).
- Practical knowledge of data modeling (logical and physical implementations).
- Strong understanding of data security controls, including database-level RBAC, encryption, and integration with AWS IAM.
- Proficiency in advanced analytical querying using SQL and APIs.
- Experience with BI tool integration (Amazon QuickSight or similar platforms).
- Proven experience in building and optimizing analytical dashboards, creating semantic layers for reporting, configuring data security (Row-Level Security), and embedding dashboards into applications with high performance and usability.
- Level of English – Intermediate+ and above.
