Andersen is hiring a Data Engineer to enhance a business-critical SaaS platform for insurance analytics, coordinating the team and improving delivery processes.
The customer is a global professional services company specializing in consulting, risk management, and business solutions. Operating across international markets, it helps clients improve efficiency, manage challenges, and implement strategic initiatives. Known for its analytical approach and focus on long-term results, the company delivers tailored, impact-driven solutions across various industries.
The project is centered on enhancing a business-critical SaaS platform used for real-time actuarial calculations, modeling, and insurance analytics. The solution powers key workflows for end users, requiring high reliability, performance, and continuous functional evolution to support complex insurance and risk-modeling operations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver PoC prototypes for migrating data from Azure Cosmos DB (SQL API) to SQL-based or Fabric/Delta Lake platforms.
- Analyze existing Cosmos DB (JSON) structures and design optimized relational schemas suitable for analytics and Power BI.
- Build ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Storage (Blob/Data Lake).
- Evaluate migration approaches in terms of feasibility, performance, cost, and alignment with product requirements.
- Integrate PoC workflows with the existing Azure ecosystem (.NET services, Azure Functions, DevOps pipelines).
- Ensure proposed solutions meet availability and latency expectations.
- Document findings and present migration recommendations to the engineering team.
Requirements
- Experience in data engineering for 4+ years.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (SQL API): data modeling, partitioning, indexing, query tuning, and throughput management.
- Solid expertise with SQL-based databases (Azure SQL / SQL Server): schema design, optimization, data migration.
- Strong practical experience building ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory.
- Experience with Azure Storage (Blob / Data Lake) or Azure Functions.
- Ability to work independently and deliver short-term PoC results with minimal supervision.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills related to cloud data architecture.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to present PoC outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Level of English: from Upper-Intermediate+ and above.
Desired skills
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Databricks.
