Summary

Andersen is hiring a DevOps Engineer in Germany for a project building and operating Kubernetes-based platforms, implementing CI/CD, and migrating legacy systems to secure, scalable microservices.

The customer is a public-sector organization responsible for supporting and coordinating large-scale administrative operations across multiple regions. It ensures reliable and efficient service delivery while managing complex IT systems and high-volume data processing. The organization is actively investing in digital transformation, focusing on modern platforms, automation, and AI-driven solutions. Its teams develop and maintain enterprise-level applications and continuously improve digital services and internal processes to handle millions of transactions annually.

The project is focused on designing and operating enterprise-grade container platforms based on Kubernetes and OpenShift. It includes implementing DevOps practices, supporting CI/CD workflows, and migrating legacy systems to microservices while ensuring high availability and security compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and operating enterprise‑grade container platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes).
  • Designing and implementing DevOps processes.
  • Migrating monolithic and VM‑based systems to microservices and container environments.
  • Building and maintaining Git‑based DevOps workflows using Helm and CNCF toolchains.
  • Managing lifecycle, patching, and high availability of distributed applications.
  • Supporting CI/CD workflows and repository‑based code delivery.
  • Supporting Java application operations as an interface between development and operations.
  • Reporting progress through status reports or recurring status sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a comparable IT qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of common architectures for container environments, especially OpenShift and CNCF projects with “graduated” status.
  • Experience in software operations within enterprise or governmental environments for 10+ years.
  • Experience in operating highly available software systems for 10+ years (including load balancing, web servers, application servers, and database servers).
  • Experience supporting Java applications as a link between software development and operations.
  • Experience migrating from classical server/VM environments to container platforms.
  • Experience in lifecycle and patch management of distributed applications.
  • Experience building and operating hybrid Kubernetes platforms, with a strong knowledge of container ecosystems (OpenShift, Kubernetes).
  • Experience creating and maintaining Git-based DevOps workflows using Helm.
  • Experience actively shaping change management processes and participating in environmental transformation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with the following technologies: Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible/Puppet, HA PostgreSQL, monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), UNIX/Linux, SSL/TLS, OpenID and SAML (SSO), Keycloak.
  • Willingness to undergo onboarding in Stuttgart and to attend the office in Stuttgart at least one day per week.
  • Level of English – from Intermediate+ and above.
  • Level of German – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

  • CKA and Istio certification.
  • Familiarity with: OracleDB, SAN/NFS storage, virtualization technologies (OpenStack, Proxmox, QEMU), monolithic application stacks (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat), backup tools (restic, k8up), HashiCorp Vault.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with process frameworks such as ITIL or COBIT.
