Java Architect (in the EU)

Andersen is hiring a Java Architect in the EU for a project with an SAP-focused consulting company. The role involves modernizing a legacy HR analytics app to improve performance, stability, and maintainability

The customer is a highly specialized consulting provider focused on delivering end-to-end SAP SuccessFactors solutions. With a strong track record of over 600 global projects, they support organizations in optimizing human capital management processes. Their services span implementation, process improvement, and post-deployment support, with deep expertise in compensation, performance, and talent management modules.

The project is focused on revamping a legacy analytics application that provides HR-related insights through data visualization and reporting tools. Originally built on the Spring framework, the app has become complex and costly to maintain. The goal is to modernize both the backend and UI for improved performance, stability, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating the current system architecture of the Analytics app, identifying issues related to performance, cost, complexity, and resource consumption.
• Designing a modern, scalable, and maintainable backend architecture, including alternatives to the Spring framework.
• Assessing and recommending improvements for the current Cloud Foundry deployment to optimize cost and performance.
• Improving backend support for complex data manipulation and visualization, ensuring better integration patterns.
• Delivering architecture blueprints, technical stack recommendations, and a migration roadmap.
• Working with internal teams and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Recommending solutions for enhanced system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Guiding and mentoring backend developers, leading architectural reviews and best practices.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in backend software development, with a focus on architecture design for 10+ years.
• Deep expertise in Java across all layers of development.
• Strong knowledge of the Spring framework and alternatives.
• Proven experience designing and optimizing cloud-native solutions.
• Experience in building and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems for business-critical applications.
• Strong understanding of data integration, data flow, and backend support for analytics and visualization platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.

Desired skills

• Experience with Cloud Foundry.
