Data Engineer

Summary

Andersen is hiring a Data Engineer to build and optimize scalable data pipelines for a fast-growing European fintech platform, ensuring reliable, real-time data delivery and smooth integration of new data sources.

The customer is a European fintech platform that enables investors to access private equity opportunities and related products through a fully digital experience. Operating across several markets, the organization is recognized for its rapid growth, strong asset base, and innovative approach to expanding access to alternative investment opportunities.

The project is centered on building and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines that provide real-time, reliable data to analysts and business teams. As part of a small Data Engineering team, the focus is on integrating an expanding set of data sources, optimizing data flows, and ensuring secure, high-quality data delivery.

Responsibilities

• Managing and scaling BI data infrastructure by developing and maintaining data pipelines from ingestion through storage.
• Modeling data using solid data lake/warehouse concepts and optimizing performance through partitioning, file formats, and performance tuning.
• Championing standards, processes, and best practices within the team by implementing least-privilege IAM, encryption, data classification, PII handling, and auditability, and contributing to data governance policies.
• Conducting data analysis experiments and providing bespoke solutions to stakeholders, collaborating with analysts and domain experts to translate requirements into robust data solutions, reviewing code, and mentoring peers.
• Ensuring high-quality data through data cleansing, coding consistency, and maintaining strong data availability.
• Bringing new ideas, tools, topics, and methodologies to the BI team based on prior experience.

Requirements

• Experience as a Data Engineer for 5+ years, preferably within a regulated financial services environment.
• Expertise in designing and developing robust data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Spark and the Hadoop ecosystem, with a deep understanding of data processing.
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure, especially AWS, with hands-on experience in data lakes and modern data warehouses, including orchestration, security, and networking.
• Proven programming experience with Python and Scala, with the ability to review code when needed.
• Experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, and advanced SQL queries.
• Experience with CI/CD, Bash scripting, and deployment and release best practices.
• Practical experience with Docker and working knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of DBT (models, tests, documentation) and a general understanding of Tableau or similar BI tools.
• Ability to collaborate with analysts and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver efficient data solutions.
• Contribution to the development and maintenance of data governance and security practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a clear and adaptive communication style.
• Strong attention to detail and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for working with data.
• English level – from Upper-Intermediate and above.
