DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Summary

Andersen is hiring a DevOps Engineer (AWS) for a project developing a complex platform with integrations, payments, and claims processes, ensuring scalable and reliable system operations.

The project is focused on developing a complex product supported by multiple specialized teams. It includes building core functionality, implementing integrations with external systems, and developing payment and claims-related processes to ensure seamless end-to-end operations.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining a cutting-edge, real-time cross-selling platform with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and low-latency communication between services.
• Owning and evolving the backend/platform layer that powers multiple user-facing applications, ensuring a robust gRPC-based microservice architecture and well-structured REST APIs.
• Defining and implementing CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and infrastructure-as-code practices that enable safe, frequent, and automated releases.
• Setting up and maintaining comprehensive observability: metrics, logs, traces, and alerting using Prometheus/Grafana, Jaeger, OpenSearch, and Sentry to quickly detect and resolve incidents.
• Designing and operating resilient infrastructure using Docker, Nomad, Consul, Traefik, and related tooling, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance across services.
• Collaborating closely with Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical designs, identify edge cases early, and plan platform roadmaps.
• Leading and participating in code reviews for Go services and infrastructure code, elevating code quality, security, and performance standards across the team.
• Defining and enforcing backend testing practices (unit, integration, load, and contract tests) for gRPC and REST services to guarantee correctness and stability.
• Optimizing data pipelines and storage layers (PostgreSQL, message brokers like RabbitMQ/Kafka) for throughput, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Acting as a technical representative in stakeholder meetings, clearly communicating platform constraints, risks, and trade-offs, and defending realistic, sustainable solutions.

Requirements

• Experience as a DevOps Engineer for 3+ years.
• Deep hands-on experience in designing and operating scalable, distributed systems (primarily in Go) running on microservice architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS.
• Strong background in reliability, observability, and performance of production systems, including tuning concurrency models, optimizing resource usage, and ensuring predictable uptime.
• Solid experience with gRPC, REST APIs, and backend testing strategies, ensuring robust service-to-service communication and safe deployments.
• Practical expertise with Golang (latest versions), Docker, microservices, PostgreSQL, message brokers (RabbitMQ or Kafka), and observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, Jaeger, OpenSearch, Sentry).
• Familiarity with modern service discovery and orchestration tools such as Nomad and Consul, as well as edge/ingress components like Traefik.
• Experience in leading and mentoring other senior engineers, driving best practices in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, testing, and code review.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to represent the technical team in discussions with business stakeholders.
• Ability to convert high-level business goals into actionable technical roadmaps and platform initiatives.
• Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.
