Video Analytics for the Little Ones (or How Big Brother Is Watching Us)

About the topic

Maxim will give a talk on modern video analytics, aimed at an audience that has no prior experience in the field. He will discuss the basic principles behind Convolutional Neural Networks (or CNNs) — the workhorses of video analytics as we know it today. We can even develop and train a simple CNN on the spot! We will look at some real-world applications of video analytics, such as emotion recognition. Speaker will show the audience some tools that allow you to train and use your own producton-ready video analytics applications with just a few lines of code. And of course, we will have a chat on the “how to escape Big Brother” matter.

About the speaker

Maxim has been working in the video surveillance industry since 2012. Throughout this period he has gathered experience in video analytics, video management software and video surveillance hardware (e.g. IP cameras). The speaker has worn a bunch of different hats, e.g. software developer, QA engineer, instructor, and presenter. Maxim has won prizes in video surveillance hackhathons and contests.

Agile Is Dead, or How to Deliver Large IT Projects in ‘Agile’ Organizations and Not Go Crazy

About the topic

If you have ever worked on big IT transformation projects in enterprises or on any large scale project that was run by 'Agile' corporations, you can probably remember times when you were frustrated and felt that it wasn't really 'Agile' and that the setup was broken. I’ve worked on dozens of such projects, where I saw many developers and engineers struggle to cope and suffer from burnout. Let’s discuss why Agile software development methodology in its current state is fundamentally broken and what is wrong with Scrum, LESS, and SAFe frameworks. Then, we will explore what tools work where, what you can do to stay sane, and, if you are in a position to change things, in which direction you should drive the change.

About the speaker

Ivan has managed solution architecture along with technical management of the solution delivery process for major IT transformation projects worldwide. He has built enterprise products for business processes automation.
